does anybody know what the watchtower's teachings on dinosaurs are (except for the ones that make up the governing body!
One explanation I heard was that after the third creative day, there was all this vegetation run amuck, since there were no animals to eat plants, so Jehovah made these big critters to mow it all down. Then of course, they had accomplished their purpose and they died off. Not sure this is actually out of a WT publication, but I did hear it at a Kingdom Hall.
The Aid book, printed in the early 70's, declares that if any dinosaurs were still alive at the time of the flood, they would have been wiped out at that time. Noah of course took two representatives of the lizard kind into the ark, just not dinosaurs.
Yes, this was the 1970's.
I am not making this stuff up.
i just read a couple of threads related to this topic but would like some comments directly related to the issue of clergy privilege (c-p) and the jws.. if clergy penitent privilege refers to the right for a member of the clergy to remain silent concerning criminal acts disclosed to him by the person who committed the criminal act then does this privilege apply to jw elders?.
if a victim of abuse or their family goes to an elder to disclose they are the victim of abuse in the congregation and asking for assistance does c-p apply?
if the elder goes to the accused and asks him whether he did it and the accused says "no" was there a confession requiring c-p?.
The other part of this that has always been a little vague is this: does it cover an individual who is the perpetrator, or does it also apply to the victim who comes to the clergy member for help? It seems that the WT would like to throw the confidential rug over both cases. To me, it seems a clergy member should be obligated to report that there is a victim, even if he is under some kind of restraint from naming the perpetrator.

Ok here's a couple that need clarifying,
* Jehovah's Witnesses forbid women from holding any position of authority inside their Organization:
Unless there are no male members of the congregation. I have known several women who have held positions at one time or another.
* Jehovah's Witnesses forbid their members from receiving Blood Transfusions:
Actually, they allow all kinds of transfusions nowadays, just not whole blood cells.
* Jehovah's Witnesses forbid their members from participating in anything political, including voting in elections.
Officially, there is no sanction on voting. Each witness is free to follow his conscience.
No Apologies
(of the nit-picking class today)
lately is observed some small growth in wts troops.
any idea what is causing it?
i've heard that an age of baptized new members has dropped and 9/11 makes an impact.
The other reason elders can't call on the non-attenders and "encourage" them is because they are just as guilty of poor meeting attendance as everyone else. For several months, I decided to take a look around the half-empty hall during the school-service meetings and tally up how many elders were missing. Usually there were 50% of the elders present, hardly ever did we have all elders present. My attendance at the book study was also much higher than any of the servants assigned to our group.

I noticed this article too. Again the unwritten message is clear: question any other sources of information. Only we can be trusted.
The mind-control continues.
i find it extremely amusing how each year is passing without armageddon.
"for the year 2000, i visualize a world transformed into a beautiful paradise!
but i don't think that either the present world or its rulers will live to see that day.. we are living in the last days of the system of things.
Around the corner? I have heard at least twice from the stage, it is not around the corner anymore, its right in front of us!
Scary isn't it?
i dont know about you guys but im starting to get the feeling that a big fallaway is on the cards in the wt world what with all the recent scandals and the advent of the internet , information is so readily available to those in developed countries ,i feel that especially in developed nations the wt will suffer huge losses due to apathy and their extreme stand on so many issues, that many will become sick and tired of the wt treadmill of life which is so far away from the simplistic beauty of biblical christianity what do you think?
Re birth control: it would require some major changes for them to go this route. First of all, its seems too "Catholic." And for many years they have leaned against having children, with us being so close to the end and all. They would have to admit that this system may last a while longer(which it seems a lot of dubs have already realized).
i don't know if someone has already posted on this at a previous time and i just didn't see it then, but i saw something for the first time on tv today that totally blew me away.. it happened while i was watching a local television channel's normal afternoon of syndicated shows, during the commercial break.
i'm sure a lot of you have seen the commercials from the mormons and the church of jesus christ of latter day saints.
they're always promoting family and love and togetherness.
Alexis,
can you tell where you are located? I have not seen the commercials on the air, but I have heard about them.
my best friend is bombarding me with arguments why i should be a witness and giving "biblical reasons" why i should be a witness again.
i give him the reasons why i'm not one, and he keeps on chipping it away with watchdollar rhetoric.
i need airtight arguments with non-xjw references against the following doctrines and contreversies:.
ColdRed,
Its very simple. Find a calendar. Note the year, 2003. The end ain't here. According to JWs, I should never have graduated high school.
